Pomona College Choir & Orchestra: Duruflé & Bloch

Bridges Hall of Music
150 E. Fourth St
Claremont, CA

The Pomona College Choir and Orchestra, led by Donna M. Di Grazia and Eric Lindholm, will present two concerts of Bloch’s Avodath Hakodesh (Sacred Service), Part I and Duruflé’s Requiem.

Joining the ensemble are soloists Melissa Givens (soprano) and Adrien Redford (baritone).

The performances feature soloists soprano Melissa Givens, an extremely versatile artist, who regularly performs repertoire from the Baroque era through music of the 21st century. In addition to her solo and recitals, she performs with various music groups, including Grammy®-nominated Ars Lyrica Houston and Conspirare, the 2015 Grammy® winner for Best Choral Performance. The baritone soloist Adrien Redford is a second-year member of the Los Angeles Master Chorale who recently toured with the ensemble in Orlando di Lasso's Lagrime di San Pietro. Redford is a recent alumnus of Pomona College.

The joint performance each spring unites the two top ensembles in concert. The Pomona College Choir, under the leadership of Donna M. Di Grazia, boasts a membership of nearly 75 auditioned singers, with student, faculty, and staff representatives from across the Claremont Colleges, and extends the College’s rich choral tradition reaching by to alumni including Robert Shaw and Howard Swan. The Pomona College Orchestra, under the baton of Eric Lindholm, has representatives from Pomona College as well as its fellow Claremont colleges, as well as the greater Claremont community. Their diverse repertoire has included Christopher Rouse’s Flute Concerto, In the “Midst of Darkness, Light Persists” by Pomona College’s Tom Flaherty, and Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 (“Emperor”).

Free admission with open seating, no tickets.
Doors open approximately 30 minutes prior to performance.
